How It All Began

Back in the mid-sixties I was a German Shepherd exhibitor when I met my first Keeshond in an obedience class. I could not get over his beauty and intelligence. I set out with my friend Sandy Kreuger to find a Keeshond bitch that we could co-own, show, and breed. We found Traveler's Zeedrift Carioca, a daughter of Ch. Zeedrift Kwikzilver, HOF. We were very fortunate to achieve in Cari's first litter the kind of success most breeders work years for. Her first litter produced Ch. Flakkee Instant Replay, HOF (the top-winning Keeshond of all time, Phillips System). Cari's next three breedings produced Ch. Flakkee High Roller, who got numerous Group placements, Ch. Windrift's Blackjack, a Group 1st winner, and two other champions. Moving forward from the great start I got with Cari, I have bred over 200 champions and 25 Best In Show winners.

My background in breeding and showing is very diverse. I began as an obedience trainer for a Standard Poodle kennel. I worked as an assistant to the noted professional handler, Rick Chashoudian, and polished my show handling skills by taking many of his terriers up through Group First. I have owned and bred Airedales, Labrador Retrievers, Rottweilers and Papillons. I'm now breeding Pomeranians in addition to Keeshonden, and still handle professionally for select clients.

My kennel is located in Santa Rosa in the beautiful Valley of the Moon. I have roomy quarters for seven or eight resident dogs plus a few boarders visiting to be shown or bred. Most of the Windrift brood bitches live in the homes of co-owners, as beloved pets.
